Gading Sembada adalah nama sebuah bengkel las yang berada di sebuah desa, di kawasan sleman barat, yogyakarta. (Gading Sembada is the name of a welding shop located in a village in west district of Sleman Yogyakarta)

Bengkel ini berdiri bersamaan dengan bergolaknya gunung Merapi. Pada waktu itu tanggal 5 November 2010, hari itu langit tampak suram. Tak lama terdengar suara dentuman yang diikuti oleh rintik-rintik abu. Ya, ini adalah abu vulkanik dari gunung Merapi. ( This workshop established in conjunction with the eruption of Mount Merapi. At that time, November 5, 2010, the day the sky was gloomy. Soon the sound of boom, followed by gray mists. Yes, this is a volcanic ash from Merapi Mount )

Seperti yang Anda lihat di foto-foto ini, abu vulkanik begitu tebalnya sehingga menutupi hampir semua atap rumah di desa Kaliduren. Desa Kaliduren berjarak kurang lebih 35 km dari gunung Merapi. Jarak yang relatif aman. Banyak orang terganggu aktifitasnya, dan mereka harus memakai masker sewaktu pergi ke luar rumah. Inilah bengkel Gading Sembada yang sederhana. Mengapa GADING SEMBADA? karena di sekitar bengkel terdapat banyak pohon kelapa gading, yaitu pohon kelapa yang buahnya berwarna kuning gading, dan pohonnya relatif kecil atau kerdil dibandingkan pohon kelapa jenis lainnya. Jadi GADING SEMBADA berarti walaupun kecil tetapi tidak bisa diremehkan, kecil-kecil cabe rawit kata orang pada umumnya.
